A trailblazer in the field of food security, Suman played a pivotal role as a key consultant in drafting the first-ever Food Strategy for the City of Toronto. This groundbreaking initiative laid the foundation for addressing food inequities and fostering sustainable food systems. Driven by his vision of a hunger-free world, Suman founded "Feed Scarborough", an organization dedicated to combating food apartheid and building a resilient, hunger-free Scarborough. His efforts have since expanded through initiatives like "Hunger-Free Canada" and the "Zero Hunger Project", where he works tirelessly to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry. Recently Suman launched his Global Podcast & his book on a journey to zero hunger named "Zero Hunger Project"

Over the past few years, he has been a staunch advocate for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), representing Canada at prestigious platforms such as the United Nations' High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Suman also received the King Charles III Coronation Medal  for his outstanding contribution to Canada.
